About this tool
The character counter shows live character counts with and without spaces, plus words, lines and UTF-8 bytes. Limit bars show at a glance whether your text fits a meta title (60), meta description (160), an X post (280), an SMS (160, or 70 for Urdu and other non-Latin text), a Google Business post (1,500) or an Instagram caption (2,200).
Characters are counted as people see them, so emoji and combined letters count once.

Why is the SMS limit 70 sometimes?
An SMS with any character outside the basic GSM alphabet (for example Urdu or emoji) switches to Unicode encoding, which allows 70 characters per message instead of 160.
